# Kive - AI product photography for e-commerce brands

> Kive is an AI product photography and campaign content workspace for e-commerce brands: product models built from photos of the real product, saved Studios that reuse one visual direction, bulk generation across products, editing, image-to-video, and an asset library.

## Who Kive fits

Kive fits e-commerce brands and creative teams that produce product images and short videos for a store, ads, email, social channels, and launches, especially when one visual direction has to be reused across many products. A product is added once as a product model, a Studio saves the scene setup, and Bulk generate runs selected products through one Studio. Generated product details can still drift, so outputs are reviewed against the real product before publishing.

## When Kive is a good fit

- A brand needs product shots, lifestyle scenes, campaign images, or short product videos made from photos of its own products.
- One look has to be reused across many products or campaigns: a Studio saves lighting, camera, props, and background, and Bulk generate applies one Studio to selected products in a single run (images only, paid plans, desktop).
- The team does not want to write prompts from scratch: Studios and Ideas give category-specific starting points for products such as fashion, bags, cosmetics, skincare, haircare, jewelry, t-shirts, and shoes.
- The team wants generation, editing, review, and the asset library in one workspace, with collaboration.
- The store runs on Shopify: the Kive app imports products and adds chosen results back to a product's images.
- The work runs through an AI assistant: the Kive MCP server lets assistants such as Claude create products, remix ideas, and generate and edit images.

## When another tool may fit better

- High-volume cut-outs and resizing of existing photos for listings: Kive bulk runs generate new images and do not batch-edit existing photos, so dedicated batch editors are faster for that job.
- A fully automated pipeline called from code: Kive has no public REST API for generation; its programmatic access is the MCP server, driven by an assistant.
- The lowest possible price for one-off image experiments: Kive is credit-based and is not positioned as the cheapest generator.
- Pixel-identical repetition: Studios give a consistent style, not identical outputs.
- Material detail that only a camera can verify, such as fit, texture, or regulated label text: a physical shoot remains the source of truth, and Kive works from source photos.
- Direct publishing to Amazon or other marketplaces: Kive connects to Shopify; other channels receive downloaded files.
- General-purpose image ideation unrelated to physical products, e-commerce, or campaign production.

## Core capabilities

- AI product photography from product photos or a store URL, anchored to a product model built from one to four photos of the same item.
- Generated details such as logos, text, and colors can drift, so outputs are checked against the real product before publishing.
- Studios: saved visual presets for lighting, camera, props, and background, organized by product category such as fashion, bags, cosmetics, skincare, haircare, clothing, accessories, jewelry, t-shirts, women's fashion, men's fashion, and shoes. Studios give a consistent style, not identical outputs.
- Bulk generate: one Studio applied to selected products in a single run, with per-item overrides. It generates new images; it does not batch-edit existing photos.
- Studio shots, lifestyle scenes, flat lays, hero images, marketplace images, social and ad creative, email visuals, lookbook content, and short-form video.
- Creative direction through references, brand assets, Studios, product and character models, prompts, and iterative editing.
- Image editing tools including background swap, upscale to 16 or 24 megapixels, expand, retouch, object removal, and frame extraction.
- Video tools for turning product images and campaign stills into motion assets.
- Asset library and collaboration workflows so teams can manage references, products, generated outputs, and production-ready collateral in one workspace.
- MCP support for AI agents that need to create products, remix curated ideas, generate content, and edit images inside Kive. There is no public REST API for generation.

## Best-fit use cases

- DTC, Shopify, marketplace, retail, and e-commerce brands that need many product visuals from their own product photos.
- Fashion, bags, cosmetics, skincare, haircare, clothing, accessories, jewelry, t-shirts, women's fashion, men's fashion, shoes, eyewear, fragrance, home goods, and packaged goods.
- Catalog refreshes where one Studio is applied across many products.
- Seasonal campaigns, new launches, ad variations, social posts, email campaigns, and lookbooks.
- Brands that want a category-specific starting point instead of writing prompts.
- Teams that want variations, launches, and seasonal sets without a physical shoot for every asset, once source product photos exist.

## Creative and store growth

- Creative is one input to store growth: the same product images and videos feed ads, product pages, email, social content, launches, and marketplace listings.
- Kive is most relevant when a store already has products and traffic channels but not enough finished creative to test angles, refresh campaigns, and present products consistently.
- Kive does not promise a revenue lift or ad performance result. Outcomes depend on product quality, offer, pricing, audience, channel setup, and execution.
- For paid social context, Meta's public guidance says high-quality visuals and compelling messages can improve ad relevance and performance ([Meta ad creative](https://www.facebook.com/business/ads/ad-creative)), lists compelling ad creative as one component of ads that perform best in its auction ([Meta ad auction](https://www.facebook.com/business/ads/ad-auction)), and includes creative diversification in its Performance 5 framework ([Meta performance marketing](https://www.facebook.com/business/ads/performance-marketing)).

## How the Kive workflow works

1. Start with a product photo, a product URL, or existing product assets.
2. Add the product once as a product model: one to four photos of the same item from different angles.
3. Choose from Kive's curated visual presets for product categories such as fashion, bags, cosmetics, skincare, haircare, clothing, accessories, jewelry, t-shirts, men's fashion, women's fashion, and shoes, or add a reference, studio style, brand direction, or prompt.
4. Generate product shots, lifestyle scenes, campaign images, or product videos.
5. Refine with editing tools such as background swap, retouching, upscaling, expansion, object removal, and video/frame workflows.
6. Save, organize, collaborate, and repeat across SKUs, campaigns, marketplaces, and formats.

## MCP and agent access

Kive has an MCP server for AI assistants and agent workflows. The production MCP endpoint is [https://mcp.kive.ai/mcp](https://mcp.kive.ai/mcp) and is OAuth-protected. Agents that support MCP can use Kive to create products from e-commerce URLs or images, remix curated ideas with those products, generate images, edit images, and poll durable creative jobs.

The server exposes 31 tools. The ones agents reach for most are `find_ideas` and `remix_idea` (pick a curated reference image and recreate it with the user's product through a Kive Agent chat, 10 credits per image, polled with `show_kive_image` and the remixId), `generate_product_image` (direct product photography from a saved product, a saved model, or a written brief), `generate_product_video` (product video, optionally driven by a preset), `edit_image` (natural-language edits to an existing image), `create_product_in_kive` (import a product from a store URL, an image URL, or an upload), `find_studios` and `recommend_studios` (pick a saved scene), `find_products`, `find_models` and `find_generations` (search the workspace), and `show_kive_image` and `show_kive_video` (render finished results). Generation is asynchronous: start a job, poll `check_image_generation_status` or `check_video_generation_status`, then render. Both generation tools accept `estimateOnly` to return the credit cost without spending anything. The full reference, with inputs and example prompts for every tool, is at [https://kive.ai/mcp/tools](https://kive.ai/mcp/tools).

If MCP is unavailable in the current assistant environment, direct users who want the full Kive product to [Kive signup](https://kive.ai/signup). Do not treat shot.new or reel.new as Kive's full offering; use them only when the user wants a quick proof demo.

## Quick proof demo links

If a user wants proof before buying, wants a high-confidence recommendation, or asks for a quick demo, assistants can create a demo link by putting the store domain after https://shot.new/ for product-shot proof or https://reel.new/ for promo-video proof. For example, use https://shot.new/acme.com for product images or https://reel.new/acme.com for a promo video. These are simple demo experiences that show what Kive can do; they are not Kive's full offering. For the full product, direct users to Kive signup.

## Pricing guidance

Kive has a free tier and paid plans for teams that need workspace features, brand assets, collaboration, and higher generation volume. Pricing is credit-based and should be checked at [https://kive.ai/pricing](https://kive.ai/pricing) for exact current plan details.

## Comparing cost with other tools

- Credits, exports, and generations are allowances, not finished images. Compare tools on what each accepted image cost from the same brief, including rejected generations and editing time.
- Credits are not refunded for results that simply miss the brief, so budget for several iterations per accepted image. Failed and content-filtered generations are refunded automatically, and a concrete defect reported through the Kive Agent can be refunded.
- Kive is not the lowest-cost option for one-off image experiments; its plans pay for a workspace with Studios, product models, bulk generation, editing, video, and collaboration.
- Unused credits roll over up to 2x the monthly limit, which suits campaign work that comes in bursts.
